Callum Kettlewell is the founder of Blind Man Media, driven by a deep passion for storytelling. Callum seeks to capture the unique narratives of individuals, ensuring that their voices are heard and celebrated. His journey into the film industry is fueled by a desire to create content that resonates, engages, and leaves a lasting impact.
At the heart of his work is a genuine passion for learning and sharing people’s stories. He believes every individual has a powerful story to tell, and his mission is to bring these stories to life in a way that is authentic, inclusive, and meaningful. Whether through intimate documentaries or impactful visuals, Callum captures the essence of what makes each story unique.
Callum has a strong swimming background, having competed at the national level and in Commonwealth qualifiers. He still enjoys coaching younger swimmers, passing on his passion for the sport. Callum is also dedicated to spending quality time with his family and enjoys traveling to explore new places and cultures.
Callum’s passion for filmmaking began in a simple and unassuming way, making films with friends and experimenting with YouTube videos. It wasn’t until he joined a media class at college that he realized his love for storytelling. Although he initially pursued other fields, like IT, Callum soon found his calling in filmmaking, particularly in production. With the guidance of his mentor, Andy Hill, he developed his skills in editing and camera work, learning to transform creative ideas into compelling stories using tools like Premiere Pro and Final Cut.
After enrolling at Sheffield Hallam University to study Film and TV Production, Callum continued to grow as a filmmaker, directing projects like SECOND HOME and Freedom of a Butterfly. In Freedom of a Butterfly, he took on the challenge of leading a team of non-filmmakers, and despite the difficulties, he was able to push through and create a high-quality documentary. These experiences allowed Callum to strengthen his leadership and problem-solving abilities, which have been invaluable in his career.
Before fully committing to filmmaking, Callum was a competitive swimmer, achieving national-level success and even competing at the Commonwealth qualifiers. His journey in the sport taught him perseverance, teamwork, and discipline, qualities that continue to shape his work ethic today. After recovering from a spinal injury that kept him out of swimming for almost a year, Callum became captain of Bassetlaw Swim Squad. His experience in swimming, both the challenges and the triumphs, helped him develop a strong sense of resilience that has translated into his filmmaking career.
In 2022, Callum decided to start Blind Man Media, driven by a growing number of requests for his videography and photography services. With a focus on high-quality content and storytelling, he began building his brand, creating work that resonated with audiences. His attention to detail and commitment to delivering the best possible outcome on each project has helped him establish trust with clients and collaborators alike.
In 2023, Callum made the decision to step away from competitive swimming and dedicate himself fully to filmmaking. This shift allowed him to pour all his energy into his creative pursuits, and he has continued to grow and learn in his craft. With a deep passion for storytelling and a commitment to always improving, Callum is excited to see where his filmmaking journey will take him next.
